Hint: Functions are the same; signs are different Hint: Signs are same, functions are different. Double Angle Identities – Sec. 7.4. cos 2x = cos2 x – sin2 x or cos 2x = 2 cos2 x – 1 or cos 2x = 1 – 2 sin2 x.
sin(x) + cos(x)= 1/2. rather than the answer, i'd like to know how to work it out since i got a wrong answer. thanks, neilofbodom.
The derivative of cos2x -sin2x IS NOT -2sinx-2cosx.
There are several ways to integrate 1/cosx, or secx; just look on Google.
Re: sin(x)=1-2cos(x). As far as finding the points where f(x)=g(x), try squaring both sides of the equation to get you can then write the LHS in terms of cos x and solve for cos x.
this is because the square root of sin^2x+cos^2x =/= sinx+cosx.
= sin(x) * 0 * 1 * 1/2 + cos(x) * 1 = cos(x) Q.E.D. Proof of cos(x) : from the derivative of sine. This can be derived just like sin(x) was derived or more easily from the result of sin(x). Given: sin(x) = cos(x); Chain Rule. Solve
(sinx + cosx)(sinx + cosx) by FOIL is sin^2x + 2 sinx cosx + cos^2x But sin^2x + cos^2x = 1 and 2 sinx cosx = sin 2x So there you go.
